Like most married couples, Mike and Pia would sometimes have the occasional argument. One Friday night they had a particularly bad fight. It was a fight they could not resolve easily. So that night they went to sleep before they could straighten things out.
Early the next day, Pia woke up and found Mike missing from his side of the bed. She looked around and saw the home pregnancy test on the dresser.
Still sleepy, Pia remembered that she planned to take a pregnancy test that morning. So she took it and went straight to the bathroom. After Pia took the pregnancy test, she looked at it but couldn't figure out the test results. The two lines that were supposed to appear if one tested positive were very faint. So she decided to show the test results to Mike.
Holding the pregnancy test in her hand, Pia walked from the bathroom to the living room where Mike was sitting. (Because of the fight the night before, Mike woke up earlier and stayed at the living room). When she showed Mike the pregnancy test, Mike took one long look at the test result, stood up, and embraced Pia.
Unknown still to Pia, by the time it took to walk from the bathroom to the living room, the lines became clearer and more distinct. For a couple of seconds, Pia was wondering why Mike was hugging her, until she looked at the pregnancy test she was holding.
They were having a baby.
